Ive heard calling a gnome "David" should you ever see a gnome is very upsetting to them. I guess just because there has only been one famous gnome in our world, assuming all gnomes share the same name as him is preposterous. I dont really get it myself, I am assuming it is like mistaking a Peruvian with a Mexican... or Samoan with a Tongan.... or vice-versa in either one of those scenarios; which I don't totally understand either.
